Clutch Adj
I have a new Clutch kit in my 2.4 and a resurfaced Flywheel. I am noticing that when I am at a stop light and then going into first gear I am getting a little bit of Grinding Everynow and again.. However, If I just simply push the lever Towards the 2nd position and Then go to first it works Perfectly Everytime
I recently readjusted the cluth cable and it is releasing about midway from the floorboard and feels very solid. What would cause this small grind going into 1st from a Stop ?

You could try playing with the clutch adjustment, but it sounds like the first gear synchro is getting tired. Expensive to fix.
I just had my first gear, 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear synchros replaced. Unfortunately the nut came of the end of the main shaft and the shaft punched a hole thru one the casing covers as well. $2,200.00 just for the trans work. KevinS

The syncro for first gear is only set-up for down shifts. It will tend to grind at a stop. If you pause for a couple of seconds with the clutch down before shifting it should not grind. If you are at a stop light and need first gear right away, use your technique of selecting 2nd then first.

You say it will Tend to Grind at a Stop.. Are you suggesting that its the "design of the tranny?" to some degree? Why does Holding the clutch down a few seconds before shifting to first help to fix this grind sound?
