Question 1977 930 stereo what is the model?

I have a 1977 930 and need to find the correct stereo. The console has the Mic. for recording and it has a blaupunkt switch devise located just above the console. Anybody know what model it should be?

Thanks
Greg A.

I believe the one you are referring to is the Blaupunkt Bamberg model, with the optional mic and station memorizer. It is a multi-part radio system, with the mic and switch box. It is somewhat pricey. I have more info on it if you need. Good luck!! Tony.

Thank you for the info. I will do some looking now that I know what the model is. The other parts, mic and switch box are still in place in my car so all I need is the radio.
Thanks again.

here's the version that was in the early 77 930's (except that the mike is not hung out on the side, but rather installed in the console tower, top right).

they show up here once in a while (usually broken), and on ebay.

I almost bought one of these off of an auction site recently adn could kick myself for not doing it. I think the cost was $85 at auction end. I liked it because I think the faceplate is recessed somewhat such that it resembles the HVAC controls in the dash. Is this actually the case?

yes it's the case, the look is well integrated with the rest of the dash theme.

word of caution.
they are all but impossible to get fixed, parts are nla, even from Germany

Just out of curiousity, was the mic practical or was it just a cool new feature for a late '70's stereo so Porsche thought it would be exclusive to add it?

What in the world would you use it for?

I think it was for adding vocal tracks to "That's the Way (I Like It), "

The Bamberg model could actually record messages like 'remember to get off at exit 14A, dummy', or 'don't forget to pick up little Hans at kindergarten on the way home, dummy'

the unit way ahead of its time as far as GPS or Blackberry is concerned

I agree, but would change "all but impossible" to "impossible." And, I believe that these supercomplex radios were highly failure prone, too.

My suggestion would be to find another, simpler 70s post mounting Blaupunkt and the factory face plate, and you will get the same look, matching the HVAC controls. If you get a German made unit, it will have the DIN connector on the back, which you can use to hook up your Ipod, or other cool accessory.

From what I can remember touringbus driver's used the mic's to tell people what was to be seen during trips.

sorry, hope this isn't sa hijack, but is the bevelled in faceplate available still somewhere? That was the whole reason I was looking at the one on ebay. Glad now that I skipped it, although it was suppoed to be in like new condition IIRC.

Some of the MOPAR Road Runners also had a mic feature available on some of the AM/FM Stereo Radios in the early 70's.
