| Antenna Question
I have recently had to switch out the ultra-new-techno-super-hip-hop indash CD unit that looked so garish I wanted to puke, for the more classic styling of a new Blaupunkt. However, I have a mystery wire that I can't seem to track down. It relates to the antenna somehow...it's a thin black wire that runs with the antenna plug wire that goes into the head unit. Does this wire get hooked into the remote antenna power lead for the head unit to improve reception? thanks! Eric

It may be that... What year is your car? I have the integrated windshield in my '85. It requires the power for the antenna. If it doesn't have power, I will not be able to hear my local stations. ------------------ Nick Hromyak '85 Carrera

Maybe this relates to my problem. I installed a new Blaupunkt, removing the original unit from a 90 C2. Followed all the directions, removed the old amplifier from under the passenger seat and now have limited reception on FM and no AM reception. Any one know where the antenna amplifier is? It's in the wiring diagram but I'd like to find it.

I have a similar problem with the antenna integrated in the windshield. I woudl like to know how to "boost" the signal. One porschefile said that you don't need it anyway, sinec you shold be enjoying the "music" from your engine. Nevertheless I would like to listen to the occasional traffice report!! ------------------

Yeah, it's an 85, so can I take that to mean that the wire that is running with the antenna needs to be hooked to the remote antenna lead?

Oh, and the Amplifier is in the luggage boot, on the passenger side, right behind the hood strut.

Hey Guys, I recently installed a new CD player(Eclipse brand) in my 88 and hooked up the black wire coming from the antennae to the blue (accessory, I think) wire on the CD player. I had this wire disconnected on my 87 and the radio did not work worth a darn till I figured this out. So, hook the car's black antennae wire to your head unit's accessory wire(probably blue) reception should be fine. Buck

Works like a charm...the black wire that is wrapped with the antenna near the head unit is indeeed the power antenna lead. Simply hook that up to your power antenna lead on your head unit and you should be in business. However, even with it hooked up, don't expect the same reception you would get out of a modern Fuba or stock arial...
