Irish Green?? British Racing Green?? Let's see 'em!

The other day I met with a fellow Pelican here in Portland and we compared the colors of our cars which we were both calling Irish Green. He is certainly the more expert of us and I am only assuming that my '76 is IG.
We agreed that my Green is obviously a shade or two darker than his.
So on Sunday I mention it to my old dad (the original owner) and he's not sure of the name of the color of his car but has called it British Racing Green.
SO.....does anyone out there know,,
Is BRG even a standard Pcar color?
If so, which is darker IG or BRG?
Is there a code somewhere on a '76 that will lead me to the actual name of my car's color?
Please post pictures of your Green 911.
Thanks

"Irish Green" because the Germans would never use the word "British" in a paint color.

Computer screens vary but the above pic is of a car sporting original paint. Car now owned by a dear friend...location Istanbul.

Love this version of Irish Green. Unfortunately because of other projects, my car hasn't progressed much beyond this point.

Here's my Irish Green Targa.

British Racing Green isn't a Porsche color. It's also a little darker than Irish Green too. BRG leans a bit more toward a bluish tint while Irish Green has a slight yellowish tint to it.

OK!
I see the blue in the BRG. I guess mine above is IG.
People seem to like the color.

FWIW, my perception of BRG is the colour Bentleys (the WO type ) were - very dark green and almost black.
Maybe darker than the E type shown !

my 0.02 worth
Cheers,
Dennis.

"British Racing Green" isn't really ONE color, and every English manufacturer seemed to have their own take on what they considered to be BRG. JABSEA is right - many purists consider the Lotus Elan to have the "truest" version of BRG - but Lotus used a relatively bright shade of green. Very close to Porsche Irish Green actually.

But if you ask a hundred people what British Racing Green is, the majority of them are going to point to a very, very dark forrest green. Like that Jaguar above. That is what people have come to associate with BRG, but there is no real right or wrong - no true shade of "British Racing Green" that could act as a standard.

This is true, incidentally, of almost all the "national" colors. Ferrari's "Rosso Corsa" is a different color now than it was in 1960, and is different again from Alfa Romeo's "Rosso Corsa." The "French Blue" that Alpine used is very different from that used by Matra.

Good Stuff.. When I think of BRG I think of the late '60s Ford Lotus Indy cars driven by Clark.
So is it recognized that one Irish Green differs from another among Pcars?
