This is me and my dad's 66 or 67 911 with original factory paint back in 1970. No, I don't have the pants anymore.

Now that I see this picture on the screen, it appears darker than it did in real life (admitting 38 years of memory!) It looked much more like the earlier of the two 911s in question here. The one in front below.

Just my opinion...front car is Porsche Irish Green...back car is VW Irish green.
They are slightly different.

Really I should have clarified that. She's the one on the right. The one on the left is a very proper girl.

Just noticed you changed your car name...out of repect for "Iris
the slut"????

(edit) You see, back in the old days, "Iris the Slut" and "Nina the Virgin" (1st car pictured in this thread) would hang together from time to time.

British Racing Green (aka Irish Green) originated back in 1903 when an International GP was taking pace in Dublin, Ireland (in the Phoenix Park). As a mark of respect to the Irish Hosts the British Cars were painted Shamrock Green. This then continued on into further events ....hence BRG.

A little history lesson for you all

In the 1960's "British Racing Green" varied a lot. Each manufacturer seemed to have their own idea of what it was. MG, Triumph, Jaguar, Lotus, etc. each had different colors (or is it colours?). I had a '63 MGB that was BRG. I traded it on
a '65 BRG MGB. The '63 was a lighter green, close to the Lotus. The '65 was a bluer green, closer to the BRM Formula One cars of the day- not too far off the Jaguar BRG. I can't remember Porsche ever naming a color BRG.
Does any manufacturer have a color named British Racing Green on the market today?

BRG is not any one color -- actually it can be any green. Back in the days before big name sponsors & their colors, in international sports car racing each nationality had its racing colors. British Racing Green, Italian Racing Red, French Racing Blue, German Racing Silver, Belgian Racing Yellow, Japanese Racing White, & so on. The U.S. colors were blue & white, hence the Shelby Cobras & Mustangs, the Corvette Grand Sports, the Cunninghams, etc. that were white with blue stripes, or blue with white stripes. In fact, if you go way back, I think a U.S. team's car's frame would be blue & the body would be white (or maybe I have it backwards).

Originally, German race cars were white, but legend has it the Auto Union team decided to not paint their cars to save weight. So the cars were silver, & eventually silver became the German racing color. Doesn't that sound like something the Germans would do!?

As it has been correctly pointed out, over time many people have come to associate BRG with a dark green. Many think of it as the beautiful dark green that was seen on many Jaguars.

Look at the old race cars, before sponsor logos/colors messed it all up, & you will see the nationality colors. And by the way, it wasn't based on where the car was manufactured -- it was based on where the team was headquartered. That is why you sometimes see yellow Ferraris -- they were entered by a Belgian team.

And that is why I love Porsches (all German cars, actually) in silver. Silver is simply the most "right" color for German cars.

I hope I have all of the colors correct. Please correct me if I don't. And feel free to add any I left out.

Sorry to take this off topic, but here is more about the international racing colors from Wikipedia.org:

"From the beginning of the 20th century until the late 1960s, before sponsorship liveries came in use, vehicles competing in Formula One, sports car racing, touring car racing and other international auto racing competitions customarily painted their cars in racing colors (which sometimes resembled political national colors). The colors most likely have their origin in the national teams competing in the Gordon Bennett Cup, which was held annually in 1900-1905, and were definitely established in the 1920s and 1930s era of Grand Prix motor racing, when blue Bugatti and red Alfa Romeo dominated many races.

Due to the weight limit for GP cars introduced in 1934, German Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union teams did not apply the traditional white paint in order to save weight, and the bare sheets of metal gave rise to the term Silver Arrows. When aluminium was replaced by fiberglass materials in the 1960s, some German teams (like Porsche and BMW) returned to white paint. Others German manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz and Audi used silver paint when they returned to international racing in the 1990s.

In spring of 1968, sponsorship liveries, which already had been used in the United States for years, were allowed in international racing. Team Lotus was the first F1 team not only to paint their cars in a tobacco livery, but also to change the team name accordingly. The British Racing Green vanished soon from the cars of private teams, while the Rosso Corsa used by Italian manufacturers like Ferrari is in continuous use to the present day.

Although this color scheme was abandoned by the FIA for most racing disciplines in the 1970s, it is still informally used, especially by Italian, British and German automakers and teams that want to emphasize their traditions. Often, sponsorship agreements respect this. Many concept cars follow the color scheme, and many amateur racers prefer them as well."
