Post My homemade RUF yellowbird TARGA! Check it aout

Ok well I decided to make a conversion using a photo of Bill Verburg's targa with ruf bumpers and RUF's yellowbird.

The second picture is what i plan to do to the 911 Targa I am planning to get...Yes I knw its going to be weird to paint the Targa Rollbar Speed Yellow along with the body put its my original Idea...I have never seen it done.

Hahaha...you know that ain't bad at all!
In fact, I like the look of that targa.
I do have one small complaint. The f'ed up fonts on the yellow targa pillar!
All in fun.

Which one do you think is better... The Regular "RUF" targa or the "RUF" Targa With the speed Yellow rollbar/Pillar

I think you've got to go with the yellow bar. Since the Euro-flavored RUF treatment gets rid of all the chrome or metal trim, I think you've got to follow suit with the rest of the car.

In fact, if you want to take it to the Euro extreme, I'd paint the wheels to match as well. You can go scooting around mountain roads, looking like some Swiss Venture Capitalist from the mid-eighties tearing through the Alps on a four-day coke jag.

On Bill's car, the fact that the wheels, the Targa bar and the tail match visuially is part of what makes the car looks so great.

And what he's got under the decklid on that thing is what makes his car run so great.

Speed yellow has to be the way to go. It's very catchy and would look great. I'd have to agree with Jack on the wheels. If your going to do it go all out.

Thanks for the positive comments guys! Does anyone have a clue if they make Fiberglass tops so that they could be painted?

If you really plan to do this I would get that yellow color in vinyl to recover the targa. They make matching color bras, why not targa tops. It really is a pretty good idea.

p.s. i am new to web boards, what does LOL mean? i see it posted alot.

"LOL" = Lots of Laughs

I've been seriously considering the RUF bumbers, but am also torn between just building a early light weight coup, considering my car was just painted two years ago. Personally, I like the Black Targa Bar with the RUF look. Although the wheels in yellow would go well. My .02.

RaF944,
My 78 Targa is black on black, with black tint windows. With the black Targa bar the whole car look black. Maybe I'm just biased.

I agree with Jack. You need to go with all yellow; trim, wheels, body, calipers. I think that the NACA ducts are a bit much though, maybe some turbo S ducts would blend in better.

question-

what kind of black wheels are those on the non-yellow targa??? i'm thinking those would look pretty sweet on my guard's red car as a secondary set to the fuchs.
