Now don't talk bad about the beetle...
I have a 67 VW cab which I am researching how to fit a 3.0 and 915 into. However, the external appearance will remain stock (except for Fuchs and 993 brakes) http://images.honesty.com/imagedata/...5/31991516.jpg David |
David I like the old beetle idea! You can put the porsche motor in under the stock trunk lid?? I have a extra 2.0 porsche motor and trans sitting in my garage. I would like to do that. But allways wondered if it would clear the stock trunk lid.In your research have you found much trouble with this swap? That car must be realy something with a 3.2 A guy could realy peel some rice burners with that one!!

Dealer probably won't be too freaked out about a Turbo "hanging on" the engine, since its probably a factory Turbo.
(The other mods, though, like the undoubtedly cranked up boost, will be frowned upon). Isn't his just a modern interpretation of what lots of people have done to the old style bugs over the decades? Porsche alloys and steering wheels, etc. etc. None of you ever got "VW & Porsche" magazine?? I think its kinda funny, but not $42K funny. I also think it kinda cool, not my cup of tea at all, but I certainly am not going to judge/ridicule someone else for having some fun with his car. I think that Nick's absolutely correct.
This car made me smile. Unlike the often misguided Civic crowd, it appears that this guy has a sense of humor. Reminds me of all those old "Cal Look" lowered beetles. Not my personal taste (nor is a regular New Beetle for that matter)but I'd give the guy points for the effort. |
oops

Amusing. I don't think anyone who ever slapped a Rolls Royce grill on their beetle ever expected someone to take it for the real deal. Live and let live I say...
