removing seatbacks

I've done a search to no avail. Can someone tell me how this mechanism comes apart? I need to take the backs off my standard Carrera seats for shipping and don't want to force things. As always thank you in advance for the advice.

your seats look like mine. The trick is to get the center cap out without damaging the knob. The cap is held on amazingly well by the little hooked tabs that go all the way around. Another example of how well these cars are made.
If you damage anything, damage the cap. It's the cheapest part to replace. After the cap is out, everything else is like buttah.

I'd start by removing the retaining clip for the wire that pulls up on the seat back release. Then you can work on the seat back knob. Use a very small screwdriver through the BACK SIDE of the knob to release the tabs and push them out toward the front of the knob. You should simultaneously pry on the cap through the notches on the front of the knob. You'd use two hands working from the front and the back, going around the knob until the cap comes off.

Thank you very much rusnak. Once I remove the two 10mm? bolts will the backs seperate from the bottom?

On mine, the other side was held together with a large bolt with a slotted head. It was a cinch for me to remove it with a prybar that I sharpened on a bench grinder.

Awesome, so two bolts on one side, the slotted bolt on the other and wha-la the back seperates from the back?

yeah, I didn't really disassemble the hinge per se. Just unbolted the seat back on the knob side and undid the hinge on the inner side. The second one is easier, I promise.

Great, I don't need to mess with the hinge persay just need to seperate the back & bottom for shipping.
And be careful of those cross earthy women on roids, could be harmful to your health, or a lot of fun

Geez sorry... How did you get the trim piece off that covers the two bolts? I wish I had the seats here I don't.

The cover piece sort of snaps on and off once the seat knob is removed. I hope this helps you.
