Question ever seen this type of crack on a Fuchs?

recently I noticed what looks like cracks in my fuchs.

I don't see or remember any hits/curb incidents.

The one thing it looks like it could be is when a lame (when I wasn't looking) tire changing guy had the knife slip from cutting off the old fill valve. I think this is one way they remove the old valves.

this shows the area

here is an attempt to show the closeup of the crack

I think your guess is probably correct. I've seen plenty of dents there from curbs but no cracks.

Are those polished or chromed? That would be a very odd spot for a crack!

they are polished... and yes seems like an odd place for a crack with having a big hit on the side - it is on the inside of a corner that would be stressed if a curb was hit...

If those are pits in the metal , as shown in the picture adjacent to the crack, then you have a repaired rim (welding will leave depressions like that). So a crack is not that surprising

hmmmm, interesting comment... I'll go take a better look with that in mind and maybe go have Wheels Techniques take a look or post a better picture of the indent... it sure could have been repaired by PO.
Thanks...

Strip the tire off and you'll likely be able to tell if the wheel was welded by looking at the backside of the rim.

The good news is, that you can probably sand & polish the scratches out assuming it's just a surface scratch and not a weld, etc. I now remove my wheels, and haul them to the tire shop for mounting. They're "perfect" when I take them in and I make sure they know it. I also insist upon watching the tech while he works and I've never had an issue.

yes, I do that now...I have a talk with the manager ahead of time and tell them I need to watch the tech and talk to him before he touches the wheels and tell him exactly what to do...if they have a problem with that I go somewhere else... my local Wheel Works knows me now. I also just take the wheels with tires in not mounted on the car. I buy tires there for 4 cars and track tires so I guess I get special treatment....they don't give the you can't go out there insurance story anymore.
