Removing Lower Dash (knee) Pieces (early 911)
HELP!
I am going to do some recovering on a few dash pieces (lower knee level pieces) that fit above the knee level air conditioner vent unit in my 1973.5T. I am a bit confused on how to get these off without damaging anything. Once I remove the AC vent unit where and how are the left and right side knee pad pieces attached? I know someone out these has done this one.......... Thanks Bob 1973.5T Sepia of Course ![]() |

Knee pads, ash tray, and Glove door Removal.....
Bob,
Just did this work a few weeks ago. The knee pads (left & right sides) are fastened to the underside of the front face of the dash. Two (2) or 3 small bolts hold it in place. Position you hand underneath and locate the bolts. ![]() ![]() Tony |

Tony...
Thanks! I will assume that the bolts are not too hard to get to. I have to drop that cumbersome AC vent unit first. Could you advise as to where the bolts are located relative to the each knee pad piece (ends? center/ends?). Any trick tools needed? Bob |

Knee pads.....
Bob,
My knee pads were shipped out the other day. The bolts probably 2 on each knee pad section were about 3 to 4 inches from the ends. If I recall correctly, a 8 mm socket was what I used. The fasteners (nuts) are easy to remove. Just run your fingers to locate the nut and bolt locations. HTH. Tony |
