The a/c in my 964 gets cool, but not cold like it used to. It was like this last fall but I put it off during the cool months. The good news is that it is not any worse than it was last fall so, I'm hoping there's no leak (of course, where would the refrigerant go if there wasn't a leak?). Here's my question. . .
Should I request that my mechanic recharge the system without spending time and $ testing for leaks? Or would it be better to do the system test? Thanks, Mike 94 C2 cab |

there always seems to be minor bleed off after a few years.i would think that you are basically leak free if it still works fairly well. perhaps another pound of coolant will bring it up to snuff.

I also agree with Walker's shop, the average car will loose about a 1/2 lb of refrigerant over the course of about 12 months. Porsche recommends you cycle the your A/C system once a month to circulate compressor oil and properly lubricate o-rings for a better seal. If you have a meat thermometer handy, check to see how cold your cabin air is. If it is above 60 deg I may consider having the system leak checked.
