Heat exchangers upgrade question
okay, I know or have read that installing a set of SSI exchangers can give a 911sc owner an increase of 10-15 hp.
Unfortunately, with all of my expenses, I cannot drop $1,100 for a performance upgrade BUT was told that early model 911 exchangers offer a similar increase in performance, true? What about OEM exchangers from a 1970 911E? Thanks as always, Rob

I have the SSIs on my SC and recommend them highly. However, if the $$$ are not there, then a set of the earlier 911 heat exchangers should give you the same performance bump. It is my understanding that the SSIs are modeled after the factory HEs. The factory parts are 1) not stainless and subject to rust and 2) a good set will not be cheap. You will, in either case, have to buy a 2 in/1 or 2 out muffler and the pre 74 style oil lines.
Good luck with your project!

heat exchangers
Frank,
So the 1970 911e oem exchangers would do the trick and would be okay for "now" as they are at a really good price and in great shape. Thanks in advance for your help, Rob
