headliner question...

HI,
For a 1966 912, converted to a 911, I need to install a headliner, what color should it be: black or white / ivory? The carpet will be charcoal, seats are black, dash is black...car is not painted as of yet, but will probably be polo red.

Ivory was the only choice until '73.

I wonder why it seems so difficult to get headliners in the colour you want...I used a Porsche factory headliner on my '75, but it seemed basically like a bolt of the appropriate material with a few sewed in holders for the cross springs..

Is there a problem getting perforated material that looks stock or??

PS - I have one on order for my '89, no sunroof, but I am hoping to use it for a pattern for a saddle coloured version...if I can get the material that is....worst case I just do it in black.
