Timer-Serted Exhaust Studs

Well I finally installed some Timeserts this past weekend, and you know it's not as bad as it seems...especially with the detailed instructions provided in the kit.
I started by:
  1. Cutting the studs flat and level to the cylinder.
  2. Center punching the center of the stud.
  3. Started drilling with a 1/8" bit left twist, but I'm sure a regular bit is just as good, using Kroil as a lubricant...lots of it.
  4. Then moved up to a 3/16" bit.
  5. Then a 1/4" bit.
  6. Used a magnet & brake clean to remove all shavings.
  7. Use the drill bit provided with Time-Sert kit...by hand with T chuck.
  8. Then clean out hole again with magnet and brake clean.
  9. Counter-bore stud hole with counter-bore bit provided in kit...using more lube.
  10. Clean out stud hole again.
  11. Next use tap provided in Time-Sert kit...using Kroil again, thread stud hole.
  12. Clean out stud hole again.
  13. Then screw insert into hole partially.
  14. Next using insert driver provided with kit, and screw insert all the way down until tight...by hand with T chuck.
  15. Install new studs with some Anti-Seize.
And you're good to go!

The key is drilling the hole straight and center, hence I wanted to get Christian's tool, but I got too impatient and started without the tool. However, the tool is on it's way and I'll be sure to try it out the next time I need to do this...on another motor of course!

Here's some pics of the Kit & procedure.
