SC rear wheel bearing look like turbo wheel bearing

Hello,

I drove my 911 for the first time last Sunday! Actually I bought the car with broken head studs... It is a 78 SC ROW. I have rebuilt the top end of the engine, brakes, suspensions, interior this winter + some upgrades: Carerra tensioner, 964 cams, SSIs, Dansk sport, Biltein HDs, turbo tie rods...

So I drove the car on Sunday: slowly in my residence. It appeared that I have a knock at the rear right wheel. It was quite loud. It seems to be a broken wheel bearing. I have a free play of maybe 3mm! I can wiggle the hub.
I have disassemble the rear right wheel bearings yesterday evening and find out that my bearings are not the SC bearing I was expecting to see. I mean the bearing is not not the angular contact bearing which is hard to remove. Actually I have 2 ball bearings whick look like the turbo bearings but not exactly.
I will post a picture soon.
Have you ever seen this kind of rear wheel bearing on an SC? Remeber: it is an 78 SC ROW.
What would be the part number replacement?

Not these bearings:

Thank you,

Vincent

The upper bearing is the correct single rear wheel bearing for the SC. The outer race comes off on the hub shaft destroying the bearing and exposing the outer ball cage when you disassemble it so that may be what you are seeing. The bearing has two separate races and ball cages in one shell (inner and outer).

Thank you. You were 100% right. I have removed the outer race of the bearing thanks to a home made tool and heat. It appears it is a standard SC rear wheel bearing like the top picture.

Now I am waiting for the new bearing.

Might as well do the other side as well.
While something could have happened to the defective side, quite likely it is a duty cycle thing.
Just a suggestion.
Any pics of your adventures in upgrades over the winter???

That looks great! Cold, but great.
