I can't get comfortable in my SC

I had the seats re-done, they are non sport, but damn it I'm 6' 1" and I look like a long necked moron driving my SC. And suggestions on alternative seating for tall guys?

I'm 6'2". Recaro SRD's (Now called Recaro Speed's). They use the stock rails and sliders, but will drop you down about 3".

I did too, but barely. If he just had the seats redone though, the padding will probably be stiffer and fuller than a worn in seat.

I'm 6'4" and own an '85 coupe. I had no idea that '85 seats were mounted higher than other years. My head is up to the ceiling. I'm afraid of lowering the seat rails and welding on that tunnel with the fuel lines. Nice to know that SRD's sit a full 3" lower. Do you think that this would hold true of some vintage Recaro LS's with a Recaro mounting rails. I'm considering a relatively expensive set of those but it would help the decision if I knew it would solve this problem. Thanks and sorry for the hijack.

Scott

P.S. If it makes you feel any better I look like Herman Munster with the sunroof open.

I'm 6-4, and long in the torso. With the stock seats I would brush the headliner, even the way I keep my seat. I installed a set of Currillo sports and got just enough head room to not get "helmet hair"

Cut the factory seat rails out and weld in a structure between the sill and the tunnel. Many, many of us have done this with our race cars. It's a much safer structure and you'll get about 3 more inches. I'm short and when I race, I have to take off my windshield wipers or I can't see over them

You can also make the new structure in such a way that you can move your seats back farther than stock rails allow. If need be, you can add a spacer to your steering wheel to bring it closer to you.

No, its a Targa, and I have to recline the seats to a almost "ghetto" position to get some sort of comfort out of them.

It's actually worse if you're short. The pedal distance is long. Much better in a Boxster.

That's strange. Targas have more headroom than a coupe dont they?

Any experiences using these? I would be interested to know how they compare with the stock "tombstone" style seats for seat height/headroom. Alternately, anyone know what would be involved in installing '72 vintage sport seats in a later car?

6'2" - Targa is a good overall fit.

Unfortunately, the tallest part of the 911 is at the front windshield. so if you are tall, the closer you sit to the steering wheel the more height you get out of the roof line. You will notice on the later cars that they fixed this issue.

I'm 6' 1". I have Sparco Pro 2000 fixed back race buckets in the car. I'm fine with no helmet, but I tend to sit closer to the front than most so I can squeeze out the last bit of head room in my sunroof coupe. at the track, I have to remove the seat cushion to get clearance for the helmet.

You can fit. You just have to change your seating position slightly.

Best regards,

Michael

As you age you will get shorter and the seats will be broken in, so you should fit perfectly in 10-15 years! Damn, I'm 5'8" so does that mean my car
fits me perfectly?
