Lloyd mats fit queston.
Can anyone tell me if Lloyd mats intended to go on top of the existing OEM mats or are they a replacement for the OEM mats?
I need to replace my front and back mats and I’m not sure which brand to go with. I have a 81 SC Targa. Thanks, Arron

they go on top. Porsche had an aftermarket mat that went on top of the factory carpet years ago, and I suspect the Lloyd mats were patterned after them.
Loyd makes both a plush and a super duper plush mat. I like the super duper plush one without the logo because it dampens sound without too much of a weight penalty. |

I too have the super duper plush mats, great product they are easy to keep clean and the fit is incredible, I paid for the extra $$ for a logo and the rear deck mat (over the folded down seats).

I also have the Lloyd mats. Mine are the regular plush mats with the Carrera script. They fit over the factory carpet.
Super fit and great looks also! David

Thanks for the replies. I’m looking for a replacement for my mats not something to cover them. Do any other companies make direct replacements for factory mats?

I am not sure you can buy just the sections that are on the drivers and passenger floor as they are considered part of the entire carpet for the interior. You might be able to have an auto upholsterer use your old ones for a patern and make you a set of new pieces in matching carpeting.

Yes, Pelican sells them. They are the two piece carpet sets under the carpet section. They will replace the driver's and passenger side floor carpets (which are considered to be part of the carpet set as opposed to a mat). I bought a set last year. Very nice quality. |

Thanks Mike,
I learn something new about this site everyday. I wasn't really looking for a set but now I just might renew my mats as well.

I've had single replacement pieces made for my car.
I sent in a small piece of my good carpet (for color matching) and received back 3 pieces that matched the color and carpet exactly. Apparently the upholsterers can buy original Porsche carpet because that's what it was, with vinyl edging. The pieces that I replaced were the two side door threshold pieces and the drivers side floor carpet. I was totally happy with the result and did not have to buy the whole set. I used to have Lloyd mats with a Porsche crest in the middle but it was so distracting, trying to keep it clean by not stepping on it, and constantly vacuuming or scrubbing it. I finally went with plain and I'm happy. |

THe mats under my Lloyds mats have the curved plastic part near the drivers seat etc. Do the replacement mats Pelican sell have these? I am going to go check out the site.
I like the Lloyds because of the straps that hold them in place... Bill |

When I get home tonight, I'll see if I have a photo of the new front carpets. They are really nice, with proper vinyl edging, the rubber pad on the driver's side for where the heels go, etc.

I bought the regular lloyd mats with the word porsche on them. They fit so good that I removed the factory carpet mats.

Do the Lloyd mats fit well after you remove the factory mats?

I also removed my factory carpets and just use the Lloyd mats. As Kees said they fit very well. Much easier to remove the drivers side for DE's and autocross too. The Lloyd mats do not extend up and around the brake and clutch pedal like the factory carpets. The passenger side even has that little "flap" that fits behind the center console. If you go this route instead of the carpet set, just be carefull with color matching though, mine don't match the factory carpets as well as Kees. It is not a Lloyds problem, I just should have done a little better job matching before buying
