Another Weber Question!

HI.. I have a 2.0 with Solex cams (that I love). But I am having difficulty setting up the Webers.

The car fires right up cold, it does hesitate when its warm. But it Idles smooth, accelerates fast, plugs look ok. But When I am cruising down the road it has a serious case of the pops. If I press on the peddle lightly it smooths right out until I let up on the peddle lightly to a steady speed and the popping starts again. But if I let up all the way it smooths out.

Is this the Main jet problem? To small?

Here is my setup Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Early 2.0 Sandcast case
Solex Centerlube cams
Webers 40 40IDTP13C1, the tapped holes on manifolds are plugged off. I dont have insulators yet but know I need them. K&N watershield

Mains 110
Idle 50
air correction 170
permatune 3 wire and a 70 coil SS Jacketed wires

2000 ft. elevation Las Vegas!
Humidity: 14%
Pressure: 30.14 in.
Dew Point: 10°F

You do not say what RPM this happens at. If below ~3000 you are still mostly on the idle jets. Did you balance the carbs? Check out the PMO setup instructions. Most of what they have here
http://www.pmocarb.com/installation.htm
will be applicable to the webbers. Check the balance section.

Thanks for the reply, yha I have adjusted them quite a few times. But I will do that agin. And it really happens at any RPM under a sustained throttle level.

Nice guide to tune your Webers, if you haven't seen it already:

How is the rest of the fuel system? Fuel filter? Is the tank clean? debris/rust can lodge itself in the jets creating your condition. Also are you positive is is fuel and not ignition/wiring related?
