Having seen a picture of cassettes stacked in the recess of the centre console under the a/c knobs, I presume that was the idea. In my 82SC, the cassette box just fails to clear the sides by the smallest of margins abt 1/32" - or less consistent from top to bottom.
Any ideas to widen/restore the opening would be appreciated. Jack K 82SC |

If you want to try a different cassette stack, I've got one gathering dust in the basement. You can have it if you want it -- although it sounds like maybe the console's shape has changed.

I just have the centre console without the cassette rack. Has anyone updated it to hold CD's?

I'm not sure what you want. If you want to remove the cassette box to open up the console, then all you have to do is unscrew it and slide it out. I did that with my 83 SC and I now have a large compartment to store things in. I also have a spare cassette box gathering dust that I could part with since I now have a CD player installed.

Since my first post I have learnt that there is a Porsche accessory - a cassette storage rack - that press-fits into the centre console.
Stupid me, I thought that the cassettes in their plastic boxes stack one on top of each other in the console. As a matter of interest, I have wedged in 2 small wood spacer blocks [slightly wider than a cassette box] which has widened the console opening so that is does accept the cassette boxes, but it's still quite a tight fit. Thanks Jack Olsen and Eric for your kind offers. I may decide to order the part or just leave it as is. Jack K 82SC |
