clutch or trans, what are the odds?

Lost all gears after a full throttle through burst first gear and going for second gear.
At the shift, the engine just revved and no second gear.
No gears, not even reverse.
Trans made no sounds whatsoever, no noises at all when clutch is released with engine running.

What are the odds?
Trans or clutch?

The nut/bolt on the shift rod clamp in front of the shift coupler is my guess. I just replaced the ball cup+shift rod bushings. I had to disconnect the shift rod but did not get it back together in the right position. I could not get any gears, just grinding. After many adjustments, I got it to shift better than ever. The nut/bolt is a 14mm. I used two open ended wrenches.

Well, put it up in the air to have a look.
The axle stub that the inner cv joint slides onto is sheared off just outside of the seal (no oil loss).

Seems like an uncommon failure point?

I'm not thinking anything got loose, it was a very clean shear just outside of the seal line.
It appears to simply be a torsional overload.

I was able to just pull the broken shaft out and remove the broken bolt with needle nose pliers.
It looks like a new flange and bolt & I'll be right back on the road again.

Yes, I will upload some pics asap.
