Post Electrical Problems..where do I start lookin...HELP!!

OK heres the scenario started out as a dim battery light while the car was running and I did pull the alternator have it rebuilt and replaced the regulator. I had the alternator out seceral times and even took it down to the shop that rebuilt it and they bench tedted it in front of me and it was charging. I reinstalled the alternator and put a voltmeter on the battery with the car running it is putting out 12 volts and the battery light is bright. The alternator shop and my wrench said something is not energizing the alternator. I do have an appointment with my wrench to take the car in on Wednesday would love to be able to figure it out myself..where do I start and what do I do any imput would be appreciated. Fortunately my wrench is also the president of our club and he is honest and experienced and specializes in Porsches but it would be nice to figure it out on my own..thanx in advance I also have put a new german fanbelt on and its adjusted properly.

i've had problems like that caused by a loose or crusty connection on the D+/61 stud. not the blue wire itself, but the actual stud that comes thru the alternator case. make sure the nut on the stud is tight, and clean before you install the blue wire.
