Hello everyone,
I am trying to make the final adjustment on the carbs. The carbs have been rebuilt. Everything was going great. The car idles with all the barrels pulling the same amount of air. Now for the last adjustment--the idle mixture screws. I have a few screws that don't do a thing when I turn them either way---in or out. I even had the car running with one of the screws completely out ( in my hand). Nothing happened. PLEASE----what gives? What am I doing wrong?

it will probably be your idle jets are either dirty or the circuit is plugged.Take the jets out and blow them clear with air. There is lots of advice on this if you do a search on webers..

Ditto....but please read some of the threads that warn of using compressed air when your floats are in place. (They get squashed)...so remove the top plate and floats before you blow out the passages. My buddy just had the same experience from getting engine sound pad material down in the carbs from running just a few minutes without the air filters

Tadpole,
Before you get too deep into the carbs, try pulling the non-responsive idle jets, clean them with carb cleaner or air. Then pull the non-responsive idle screws and shoot some carb cleaner in the passage from the jet side and screw side. NOT AIR This might clean out dirt without pressurizing the float bowls. This has been successful for me on a couple of occasions.
