Windshield seal frusturation, need advise please

I am trying to install a new ws seal in my 1980 sc Targa and not having any luck at all.

I followed all the proper procedures, but I can't see how this thing is going to fit! Can someone tell me if I have the correct seal? On the new one that I have, I do not see the lip like the old one had. I can't sea how this seal fits over the metal lip on the car. Part number of the new seal is 911-541-225-03...

Any suggestions on who can install this that is local to Fair Oaks...

It looks correct.

Put the seal around the glass

Put trim pieces in the groove on outer edge of the seal

Put a string around the edge of the seal

Put the whole shebang in the frame of the car

While applying firm pressure from the outside , start from the bottom and pull the string from the inside to pull the inner rubber lip over the edge of the frame, get one lower corner to seat and then do the other, then work your way to the top corners a little bit at a time finishing along the top edge by the mirror.

Follow the seal the whole time and really keep a close eye on the seal in the corners if it pops you got to push down harder.

When I replaced my window seal I used a soapy solution and could not get it to seat, then I did it dry and it was eisier for me as the seal then stuck to the frame better in the corners without popping out.

A good tip is to use two pieces of string that way even if you get it partially seated and it pops out you just use the second string to seat it again.

Another thing is the outside lip of the seal should overlap the edge of the frame not be tucked in to it.

I followed these instructions to the T...on the seal that I have, I do not have the rubber lip to pull over the metal lip. Our host websits say: 91154122500 Part Superseded to 91154122503 Windscreen sealing

I can not be 100% sure that it is correct, I will check my reciept. Referring to the top picture, the inner seal is the raised portion that your left thumb is resting on, thats as good as it gets.

It looks like the top section of your photo has a lip that you can stick your finger in? This is the lip that goes over the metal lip on the car?

I dont recall being able to stink my finger in the lip, I think the photo may be a bit missleading. I really think you got the same seal.

I have that feeling that I do have the same seal...but just can't see how it fits.

Make sure you have the right lip. Due to the way the seal is made it is not obvious where the gap is. I ran into the same problem and was ready to throw tools. Wifey came out and said, are you sure that's right? I looked at it again, and sure enough, I did not have the right lip. Once I used the proper one, it went in first try.

First picture shows a business card in "THE SLOT" of the rubber lip that goes over the metal lip on the car. The top of the picture is the outside of the seal where the trim goes. The ribs above the card go against the metal of the window frame in the car. the bottom (behind/below) the card ends up inside of the car over the metal lip of the window frame to hold the window in.

A piece of "string" in the lip. This piece is too big in diameter to use for mounting. It was the only white, for contrast, piece that I had.

Thank you so much for the pics...I now know that I have the wrong seal. My seal does not have the slot where the cord/card is.
