Are vintage Corbeau's worth anything?
You see constant talk of old Recaros, but what about 70's era Corbeaus? I've got two seats that I would term "sport seats" with adjustable backs. I also have an old race bucket seat with a wooden frame. They all came with a car that I recently bought. I am just wondering if it's worth my while to send them off to someone like Audobahn interiors and have them restored and put them in a car, or are they just not anything of interest? Any thoughts or guidance are appreciated.

The race bucket...
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This one clearly needs recovering, and thus the primary motivation for my question. I would like to put it into my '73 914, but when you can buy a modern seat for several hundred dollars, it begs the question of whether it's "worth" any money to restore a seat like this. The other seats can easily be used as they stand. I don't know how I feel about the color, but since I don't currently have a car that I would put them into, it doesn't matter at this point. I am looking to get a 74-77 911 project in the future that I thought they might be appropriate for, but just don't know. I realize, the old adage of use what you like always stands, but I do sort of have a thing for period correctness, even if I am using non-factory parts. I just have no clue how to properly date these items and hoping some who knows the tells will jump in and educate me...

They look like late 70's seats to me - a totally different period seat to the late 60's Recaro's etc that are hugely in demand, and therefore not in the same category when it comes to value.

The talk about old recaros for 911s involves the factory early 911 recaro sports seats.
Those aftermarket Corbeaus, IMO, aren't worth much. I don't think they every really will be, Corbeaus have generally been lower budget seats. |

That's a start. I care more about dating them than valuing them. I don't really have any interest in selling them. Just like many other people here, I can tell you the difference between a '68 Recaro sport seat and a '71 Recaro sport seat. I sold a set of '69's for $3200 last year. But like I said, money isn't the point and maybe I have misled people with my title. If, for example, these seats were from 1977, they would be prefect for a 2.7l car that I could be acquiring in the near future...
