Question 930 Brake Pad Retaining Clips

I am overhauling my 930 brakes and I need a new set of pad retaining clips to make a job of it but the problem I have is that Porsche want almost $50 per clip

I notice that Pelican don't sell these and wondered if anybody had any good ideas as to where I might source four clips at a more reasonable price?

Any ideas, help or suggestions would be welcome.

Regards

Steve

Why do you need to replace the clips? These things are pretty durable and they clean up easily with a 3M abrasive pad. $184 for four spring clips is hard to swallow for sure. Are they bent, broken, unusable?

I sold a guy one clip from a caliper that is a piece of crap. So that's going to be your best bet- someone has calipers that are junk and is willing to give up the parts.

Thanks for the response,
They are rusty but still useable but after the work I have put in on the rest of the brakes I wanted to fit new clips if possible. I guess I could try cleaning them up then try to get them plated?

I'm surprised yours are rusty since the clips are an alloy that is stainless-like and doesn't rust much. By the way these clips are not specific to only the 930 calipers. The small 4 piston Brembos from a 944T 968 964 will all work, front or rear.

I think you have the right idea to have them plated. If you media blast them, I think you might not have to plate them. The rust is likely just brake dust build up. some brake pad material goes orange-ish when deposited on wheels & calipers and it starts a layer of apparent corrosion that's really tough to get off without using abrasive means.

Why not contact a Porsche dismantler. Parts Heaven in beautiful Hayward, CA have always been reasonable with me. They may or may not have the parts you need, but certainly worth a try. Remember, Google is your friend.
