Sorry in advance if I'm wrong. I'm only going by my experience on the 2.4. Now you guys really have me wondering too!

OK, here are my P & T sensors. I verified this is the pressure sensor by pulling the wire and pegging the gauge. (2nd pic is P by Breather)
There is no trace of a p Switch. Based upon earlier posts I am now assuming it is on the back of the cowl????? does anyone have a 71T and pretty pictures??? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1205889960.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1205889984.jpg |
Sam,
I believe there are (at least) two solutions here. A) the early sender (OP) near the breather cover was a two pole sender- which would be for your wiring harness- new ones seem elusive B) convert to the later style arrangement-removing the adaptor near the breather cover, re-formating the right cam oil line/sender block arrangement and extending the harness with a jumper to reach the gauge sender near the fan Hope this helps |
Solved?
So it appears there may NOT be a location for a separate idiot light switch. That maybe why we cannot find it. Has anyone seen one of these two pole senders? How many wires? my current harness only has one to this location - surely that cannot work for both instruments?? If they exist, have one wire, and anyone has one - I'll buy it!!! |
According to the owners manual "the oil pressure warning light (green) (not furnished with optional instrument cluster)"
So if you have the "optional" oil temperature/pressure gauge you don't have a oil pressure warning light. BTW I didn't realize that for the first 20 years I had my car. Hope this helps. Gordon |
