Angry 930 Door won't open

HELP! I can't get the ding-dang-rassafrassin-stinkin-freeking-dillyofadinger drivers door open on my 930. It's an '82.

The key unlocks it, but when use either handle, nothing happens. The door has 1/4" of play, so it appears to be only partially closed (or open).

I've pulled back the door panel but can't find asnything broken after 5 hours of tinkering. There is a cam that holds the door catch thing in one point and I can't seem to budge it. Any suggestions?

Chris

Never had the problem on a 911, but I would suspect it is kind of the same. Try removing your door handle and looking at it. It may have a broken piece on it. I had an old Saab that I broke the door handle on. Couldn't open the door...was fun getting in and out on the passenger's side for a week.

typically the pivot point on the trigger breaks, limiting the travel of the pin that pushes the release pad of the latch. (that's the piece that goes forward and backward as you turn the key). you should be able to push it inward to complete the release of the latch. make sure it's in the forward, unlocked position. if the trigger pivot is ok, it's time for a latch. they get pretty sloppy.

I've actually removed the handle to push that plate mechanism myself with no luck. The handle works well as it was replaced several years ago...

Sounds like the latch is shot (JWW) espically if you say that neither handle will work the latch...

My compliments on the Yosemite Sam cussin!!!! Closely related to "Harley Talk" when trying to kick start an old Harley Sportster. The Harley Talk is closely followed by the Harley Scream as the bike kicks back and sends you over the handlebars!
