Stripped clamping nut bolt

Hello. I'm currently undertaking my first brake job, everything has gone smooth so far (minus the grease caps) except on the LF hub. I've unfortunately stripped the 8mm allen bolt for the spindle clamping nut. I'm sure this has happened to someone before. What's the best method to remove it?

Try fitting a small, fluted easy-out screw extractor into the inhex of the head. This works well on 911 head stud nuts, so i'm sure it would work well on this smaller fastener.

If you find that the easy-out tip is too small to grip the inhex of the screw, cut the easy-out shorter so it fits tighter in the inhex.

Success!

Let me update this thread... Thanks for your advice KTL. Much appreciated! I tried getting an extractor on there, but couldn't seem get a good angle on it what with the space provided by the hub. So I resorted to a cold chisel...and it worked! Slowly though; the bolt was frozen on there good, so it took a good while even after 3 days of soaking in PB Blaster. I admit, not an exciting thread, but hope it helps someone!

Glad to hear you got it out some how or another. Be sure to inspect the clamping screw threads of the collar nut to see if they're damaged
