show off your 964 C4

Need some distractions to get through this (record breaking long) winter;-)

I purchased a well taken care of 91 964 C4 last summer. I have always been a great fan of the the 964, although it seems to get a bit of a bad "rap".

I am curious to see some other 964 C4 and also what upgrades some other owners have done or recommend.

The more pictures the better. I have added a pic from my car's previous owner.

Thanks

Andy

I think this is the right forum. As a SC owner I may have a 964 or 993 in my future. Bring on the pictures, I love these 3.6L 911's!!!

Here's mine: purchased by my dad new in 1990. H&R coilovers, Steve Wong chip, primary muffler bypass, cone intake, Cup I Turbo wheels, aero mirrors, a few other little things. All the usual 964 bugs dealt with. We used to take it to go skiing when I was a kid.

The 964C4 has a Star wars AWD system, lots of very expensive parts that eventually need to be r&r'ed

C2 would be a better choice for a 964

early cars have no cylinder head gaskets, just a machined groove, which means they leak oil now. most have been repaired by now, and porsche picked up the bill for a lot of repairs. they also have dual distributors with the 2nd driven off the primary by a belt. the belt can overheat and snap so there is a factory recall which is just a vent that feeds air into the distributor from the HVAC blower ducting. dual mass flywheels tend to disintegrate (well the dual masses separate) which can cause juddering, vibration, noises when pulling away from stops. most cars with any sort of mileage and good care have had all of these things rectified by now. many people also report electrical gremlins with the "driver information system", abs lights, etc.

Why not pull the C4 out of the garage once in a while during the winter to stave off the winter blues?

I'm actually giving some thought to picking up a 964 (C2 or C4) as a year-round Porsche here in Minne-snow-ta. Any reason not to?

I love my '91 c4 cab, bit it's a money pit :-)

My 'upgrades' include a car seat for our daughter, strut bar, chip, and the rest is lots of preventative maintainence!

nope, '89, '90, and '91 NA (naturally aspirated) cars came with flag mirrors and 7-spoke design-90 wheels. '92 and up NA cars came with some variant of 5-spoke cup I wheels (16" or 17") and aero mirrors. Aero mirrors started on Turbos (AKA 965's) in '91, the first year of the Turbo.
