Guys, I think I have found the sources of my leaks and would appreciate your thoughts/comments (83/SC).
First off, I have removed the engine twice and replaced all the typical gaskets/seals up top and had the oil cooler tested but the engine still leaked. I ran the engine tonight and was able to locate what I think are the sources. Leak #1 (blue): Oil seems to be seeping out of this bolt as I do not see any dripping from above. I have tightened the bolt but it still leaks. Can I remove it and add some type of “goop” to stop the leak? If so, what is recommended? Leak #2 (red): Transmission fluid is dripping on top of the heat exchanger (I assume it’s transmission fluid since it’s green). As such, I’m guessing the engine/transmission seal has gone bad and needs replacement…make sense? If so, should I replace any other seals/gaskets when I separate the engine/transmission? TIA ![]() Wayne C. 83 SC ![]() |

A shot from the hip says you need a flywheel seal and a mainshaft seal. Both very easily replaced when the motor and trans are out of the car.
