I just checked. Pelican carries 5 amp fuses now.

Ceramic or glass.

11 year old thread? Oiiiphffff.....

wallstreet 02-09-2012 07:24 AM

OK so you bought your last part 11 years ago. What does that have to do w/ buying a non-ceramic fuse that is difficult to find for someone else's 911 or 928? Ommphphffff !
Seriously, anyone looking to gain an edge on maintenance of an electrical system might consider a glass type fuse. I realize this person or even you are not interested but others might. This thread was merely an entry to remedy a problem many Porche/VW/Volvo/BMW owners have for more than 11 years. I looked for glass fuses for several months to replace corroded ceramic fuses. Once the new fuses were installed, my time consuming maintenance cleanup was a minimum. I was just passing on a small piece of information to anyone interested.
Sorry if you were offended.

You're missing my point....the OP and follow ups would have asked more questions if they couldn't find what they needed.

The OP isn't even a registered user, will not get a response nor will anyone benefit from a crusty old thread.....but hey, have at it.....

You're missing my point. I was not specifically addressing OP. I was not even expecting a response... from anyone. The fact that no one asked does not mean more information is added.
As stated, I was passing on some information others might be interested in regarding either 5 amp GLASS fuses or glass fuses in general. It obviously is not of interest to you except to make a off handed opinion. Your opinion is understood. If the fuse issue does not apply to you then use the delete key. Many owners have had a corrosion issue and maybe never knew a replacement was available.
"but hey have at it"

I don't mind the old thread resurrection.

I've been on the prowl for glass GBC fuses myself. NAPA Online shows them as being in stock, but I haven't tried ordering to see if they will send glass or plain old plastic or ceramic fuses. I never thought of checking on ebay.

Thank you
This could be a source:
eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

I paid dearly for mine as I had experience from the Volvo several years ago. I called the Volvo dealership and they said "nothing like glass fuses exist". Altho I purchased from them years earlier.
I also checked NAPA, OReilly's and others. They showed an SKU but zero inventory.
Hope this helps.

Last night I found a vendor on eBay who had four packages of Bussman glass fuse assortments. I pulled the trigger and bought them for just under $20 total including shipping.

Great... then resurrection IS good.
