installing a short shifter...

I am wanting to install a short shifter in my 82 SC and was wondering if there was anything I need to order besides the factory kit and a new shifter crush sleeve. I was also wanting to replace some bushing to hopefully make the shifting a little smoother. Does anyone have an suggesting or tips to help me install the short shifter and new bushings and is there anything else I should be ordering? Thanks

Geoff

If your syncros are worn installing a short shifter will make it harder to shift into gear and you'll make the syncros wear even faster.
Just my opnion.

Geoff, I have a factory short shifter in the original housing from my 84. Bolt it in and you are ready to go. I used it for 3 or 4 months last year. I have since installed a RennShift unit. Let me know if you are interested. I'd like to get $100 + Shipping.

Why waste your money on something that could ultimately hasten the wear on your tranny?

I truly cannot understand why people think they need a short shifter? Get a Rennshift, Seine or Wevo shifter that "gates" 3-4, put new bushings and re-bush your coupler and call it a day. There's nothing wrong with a stock shifter provided it's in good shape.

+1. Best upgrade on my car to date. Well maybe the fire suppression system is "better" since it can potentially save the car, but I will endorse Wevo until the end of time. The difference was absolutely nothing short of night and day.
