IF I go the backdate route, it will stay narrow. Not quite "R" like, but close. Just a nice, clean, slim coupe. Thats the sexiest to me!

I agree, the Gulf Blue would have been much better. Red is actually one of my least favorites. But, as history will show, I'm not that concerned about color. Still, if there's ever a backdate (or just a full respray), we'll probably go back to the original color.

Thanks! Knowing your eyes had seen it recently was a big part of my comfort factor on the car. You almost got a call.

I think the lights are H4, but have higher wattage bulbs. Pat told me about a lot of "updates" he did to the car, but I confess I probably couldn't name them all. He mentioned something about a relay that allows for brighter bulbs.

I do like the '74, and feel it has plenty of power for me. Right now I'm just getting used to all the noises...it's been a long time since I've driven a noisy old 911 on a regular basis!

Hmm...a video...let me get back to you on that...

Unfortunately, we may not get out there until shortly before move time. I think we're going to eschew a "vacation" this year. My work sent me and Julie to Vegas recently, which was a nice mini-vacation. But I think our free time will be well spent around here with family, etc. This will help us save a little money for next year!

You guys are funny! Although, if I drive this car out, I'll probably need a co-pilot for that long of a trip. While Julie likes the car, it's not very "girl friendly", especially for long trips. I confess, I would probably need a lot of Aspirin, too.

(...do I have to hand in my Man Card now?)

Good to see you back in the man-saddle Doug.
Beautiful car.
She could be a keeper, and perhaps you might run into a 911/83 engine in some old barn, and whoagh Nelly ...

Thanks! Definitely a keeper if the fates allow it. A 3.0 sounds great, but there's nothing wrong with this recently rebuilt motor now, so I'm in no hurry to upgrade!

Although I do kinda feel like I need to do something to make it "mine". Hmm...

Doug&Julie,
Congrats on the car. I hope she brings you many years of joy.

To all, thanks for all the comments about how nice it is.... FWIW, I did not repaint the car and always wished it was still Gulf Blue too.

Tab, thanks for getting it running well again. I actually flew back to OH this weekend to drive it before handing the keys over to Doug&Julie. It felt great, just like I remember. When I had you fix the car, I had not yet intended to sell it. However, since that point I found out that I'll be moving to Tampa and couldn't take all of my cars. I knew Doug&Julie wanted the car and that we could come to a good deal. I also knew that at the rate they buy and sell Porsches I may have a chance to buy her back someday.

Bill, good to see you posting here still, It's been nearly 5 years since I bought the car. It was a great time, thanks again for the help getting me started.

Hmmm, I guess it's time that I change my avatar here... I definitely miss the car already but know she went to a great home.

Pat

Is that a brake light in the ducktail? That's cool! I don't think I've ever seen that before!

Congrats on the new car - a real beauty!

Yes, Pat wired up an LED third brake light. I'm thankful for that little bit of extra safety! Although, I've already noticed people seem to follow me further back than they do if I'm driving my Subie...so maybe the world isn't full of idiot drivers after all.

Thanks for the comments!

I was behind a truck the other day that had a third brake light that seemed like either it was malfunctioning or someone had intentionally set it up to flash a bright red LED and not just be a solid bright red light. It was very irritating - perfectly irritating! I want that too!
