yes this WAS QUITE THE EVENT once again! my sole mission was to trailer over guys rsr. when that was called off due to passport issues for the guy(mexican national), we reverted to plan Z. plan Z was to drive over with younger son. well younger spawn couldnt go, so plan Za was initiated. then plan Zb came about because another tow vehicle crapping out thursday, so my duallie was to be enlisted for other car. well ford got it fixed under warranty and we went plan Zc and drove over in cab myself.

great drive over despite playing warfare with crap semi drivers weaving across road and the constant retreads laying across I-10, always makes for fun driving. only cops were around quartzite and tehachapi(prison riot). left at 130pm and arrived at 530pm thursday. made good time. didnt get killed or caught! AGAIN!

we stayed at the hilton and that is always easy ingress/egress from speedway. food was good there and security for cars was evident in parking lot.

we went over with 5 cars and sadly to say only 3 came back in one piece. the 944 spec car spun his clutch disc apart and so he tried to get another one by sunday but couldnt find a new one despite pulling tranny apart sat. night.

the 1997 996 that drove over by itself, managed to impact evil bad voodoo outside wall of evil bad ju ju voodoo TURN #2 and then played ping pong and managed to hit inside wall also finally coming to rest. saw the entire sequence happen in front of our eyes and it wasnt cool. she complained of chest pains, so track workers were fearful of internal injuries and decided to make 996 coupe into a cabriolet by cutting top off to get her out. man this made for some anxious moments for all of us.

well she was released from hospital and was greeted at her hotel door with a bottle of champagne/ballons/and the lil racey men from pca dinner centerpiece at her hotel door across from us and a sympathy card. last we heard she did suffer a broken foot(3rd party).

both airbags deployed, hans device and sparco seat and harnesses all did what they were supposed to do. but the biggest safety item that WORKED PERFECT was the welded in roll bar that she had. emphasis on WELDED IN! no deformation what so ever on roll bar. had she not had one, this story may have been different.

remember this was JUST time trials................and man POO HAPPENS AT TIME TRIALS believe me. so throw yer bucks at safety, cuz it does pay off in the end.

other than that and other cars nailing other walls, it was a great weekend despite over cast skys on sat and early sunday. sun finally came out around noon sunday and the other 3 cars finished all their runs and we packed up and hit hadleys farm for date/banana shakes and managed to make it home in one piece with no tickets.

cant wait til next year. what a BLAST!

Charles, I stumbled on your car and had to take a pic. Where were you? Your car looked lonely and forlorn.

450knot, i was either sneaking around with my friend bill johnston sweet talking the corner workers across the bridge area whom we had met last year. 3 gals that damn near had a walmart store parked over there after the infield straight. they had it all. food blah blah blah. very funny gals w/great sense of humor. anyway we hung out there for quite some time taking pics.

or..........we drifted from car to car seeing if any help was needed in our pits. we did come over with enough help(rare) that we could go off and get some pics for quite some time. i think i got over 515 pics downloaded last night. so if any one wants a pic e-me your car number and i will see if bill or i have some good ones to give you.

i can tell you this..............there are a lot of people sandbagging beginner class. no ifs and or butts. also there were a few exceptional examples of ULTRA LOW PERFORMANCE CARS with drivers that thought A) they were really good B) think their POO doesnt stink! C) still think its a race! when reality is, its a time trials.

actually got to observe a certain individual(unnamed to protect the moronic) jump out of his car throw his helmet down and approach a driver that we knew and ream him a new one because he didnt let him pass in a certain corner!!!!

now the funny thing was A) we were undercover and present for this abomination B) this same individual attempted last year to ream me about the same thing not letting him pass in a certain corner. hmmmmmm if hes so good than why is he still in beginner class?????????????

anyway this certain individual got his own karma returned and we have photos to prove it. we were thinking of using his photo showing his car drifting aimlessly off into space numerous times as an advertisement showing his car flailing around like a beached walrus and having a caption underneath proclaiming "HAVING SUSPENSION PROBLEMS?" you need XYZ so and so product to cure your problems. hahahahahahhahahaha.

now the best part was this moron individual decided to pick on a class act gentleman race car driver that was shaking down his new car, never been to the calif speedway, but has run daytona and has raced and won extensively in europe. LIKE WON OVERALL THE ACROPOLIS RALLY! he also has a fleet of rally cars from cortinas to lancia stratos etc. i wont divulge his occupation but suffice it to say he is an international businessman and could buy sell our illustrious moron wanna be poser ricky racer about a few billion times.

its a damn shame when people come over eager to learn a new track and they get some half assed hillbilly local jump into their face about their lack of comfort level with a very fast intricate track with lots of learning curve involved.

after playing the mirror game...........i have learned to now only concentrate on whats in front and hold my line. if ya wanna pass i'll move over in the straights. and if yer lucky and im not peeing my pants i might give you a wave on. but that entails taking my hand off the steering wheel and i really dont like doing that often!!!!!!

Does anybody have any idea what wheels are on this car? They look like Fikse FM-10s but in a 3 piece configuration.

Beau, at first I thought they were Work Brombacher or VS-XX, but the more I look at them, I'm pretty damn sure they are BBS Motorsport. Look at the bottom of the front wheel right next to the valve, it looks like a red/white BBS sticker.
