Smile 9" rear wheels on non-turbo

Was wondering if it would be preferable to put 16 X 9" rear wheels on my narrow body '88 Carrera versus 8" rear wheels.

Any pictures of narrow body 911's with 16 X 9" rears would be greatly appreciated to see. I ordered 9" wheels but think they may be too wide, and want to know if
8's would be better.
Could whoever posts pictures of their rides please display wheel/tire combos?

Appreciate it tons!

Wurls,

I am not sure if you are new to this board. But it looks like the latest rave is 9" in the back. Search on "Rota wheels" and you will see a bunch of pics.

Note that these are 17".

Right on! Ok then, do you have any rubbing issues with your front 7's? What size of tires are you running?
9's in the rear look pretty good, and fill out the wheel arches fantastically!

Yup, 17 x 8 front, 17 x 9 rear, tires are 225/40, 255/45 respectively.

The front fenders have been shaved on the inside.

Incidently, the FRH 3 piece wheels will be for sale soon, as I am forced to resort to the Rota-Fox's (not that it's a bad thing). With the Rota's, I can get "Collector" plates in this neck of the woods, since they're "period correct" and thus save 75% on insurance cost

the front fenders are rolled. plenty of room in back. i have hankook rs2's 205/55 and 245/45's which are a little wider than other tires of the same size. great tires by the way.

So would everyone recommend taking my rear wheels on my SC and putting them on the front and buying a set of 16x9 Euromeister's from tirerack.com? Or should i look for the GAAAWD Awful expensive turbo 9" Fuchs.

It's a Porsche for Gaaaawd sake, buy the real thing so we can keep the price up there!

Actually 8" Fuchs on the back will look the same as 9" with 15mm spacers and they are a little cheaper. I personally don't like the 8" (951) rims on the front but that's just me.

Some folks are even going with 9 1/2" wheels in the back with 8's on the front. I'm looking at that options right now.

They were in the neighborhood of $1800......double check with Jim as it may differ per application....I supplied my stock 16 x 6s and 16 x 7s...but I think Jim at TDW might be able to get some for you...you'd have to ask him...give him a call...

Jim Lyon at TDW 800-621-6436...tell him you were talking with Christian from Tampa about the rims....he's a great guy....good luck!

dzls,

Love the 9! great color...your VW is sweet too! I had a 2002 GTI before I got my Acura...I'm contemplating on getting rid of the Acura and getting another GTI or maybe R32...they're fun cars to drive!

Come one now - what's not to like? and for the record - the 951 8"s look just like the 7's they just have deeper recessed lugs (which are good for bigger brakes) just as the 9's look just like the 8's except for deeper recessed lugs too.
