There shouldn't be anything to special about the motor in the fan. Try an industrial supply house like Grainger or McMaster Carr. Wavey posted a great topic about doing the same thing to the engine compartment heating system fan. I assume the same applies to the oil cooler fan.
Just curious why you need to rebuild the fan. Engine temps really high? The fan is really not brought into play until the oil temp gets quite high. The thermostat setting for the fan to switch on is supposedly 210 but more like 230 F in actuality. That's quite hot because the only time my car hits temps like that is when i'm running it wide open for 30 minute at a time on the track. I connected my fan wiring to the fog light switch (since my fogs are removed from the car) and I can turn the fan on whenever I choose- as long as the headlights are on.

Yes, I connected the fan switch underneath the dash and I turn it on in the track day or traffic jam, the problem is the fan is not turning unless I spin it .

I either bought the 6" or 7" fan. This link is for information, I am not pushing their site. Also, have you checked with Pelican?

Fan
Try Summit racing. I paid extra from elephant racing for a fan and temp switch for my 86 930, then found the same fan on Summit alot cheaper. Also, the fan flows more air than the stock unit.
http://www.elephantracing.com/oilhandling/fans.htm Then go to Summit and search for the same fan...
