Now that I've put a few more miles on the Blue Bomber with the GHL cat test pipe installed, I'm pleased to report considerably cooler engine temperatures. The heat that used to boil off from the cat (on the drivers side rear) is greatly reduced. The hot cat was so close to the left-side exhaust valve cover...it had to increase oil and engine temps. And I tried not to think of the extra heat load the rear tire was suffering.
Yesterday, our club had it's monthly breakfast run (race?), and it was nice to see the motor running cooler during the hardest driving. I'm in the habit of putting my hand on the loop cooler and oil tank to judge oil temps, and after a spirited ride, oil is noticebly cooler. The "cat" is now resting on the shelf, waiting for the next smog test if needed. ------------------ Doug '81 SC Coupe (aka: "Blue Bomber") Canada West Region PCA members.home.net/zielke/911SC.htm |
