GT3 seats in 80s 911?

New guy here. Long-time Porsche owner, first-time Pelican poster. Getting close to pulling the trigger on GT3 seats for my 84 930. But first, a critical question for the Pelican brain trust:

Has anyone here mounted GT3 seats in a 1980s-era Carrera or 930? I've done a quick search but so far haven't found any specific info on rails, adapter kits, suppliers, et cetera for installing GT3 seats in one of these older cars. Ideally, I'm looking for an installation that will allow for fore and aft adjustment of leg room.

By the way, I'm looking at the Porsche/Recaro GT3 seats, not the People's Republic variety. And, oh yes, I'm damned happy and grateful to our host and to all of you to be here.

A place to buy them chipper

The mounting system is easy as possible and no modifications needed.
380 euros for the pair .(570 dollars)

Note that it exists the sames seats with carbon fiber and leather , with an attractive price so.

I precise i've no affiliation with the dealer.

If I were you I would find an air cooled with them installed and check them out in person first. I have seen a couple of cars in my area with them, and frankly, they look ridiculous. It can be done, but they fill the entire cabin. It reminds me of the old Chris Farley sketch, fat guy in a little jacket.

Do they have a sub belt hole for 5 or 6 point harness?

Get some thing a little more period correct... There are plenty of seats that will offer the utlility of the GT3's and not look so lame.

Tom,
I believe Jim Williams has a set for his '73. Shoot him a PM or e-mail.

The factory GT3 seats have a sub belt cut out.

Thanks to everyone for the quick responses. Very helpful, especially concerning the appearance of GT3 seats in an 80s 911--something I obviously need to think more about.
If anyone out there has installed GT3 seats in one of these older cars I'd sure like to see the end result. The last thing I want to do is spend a bunch of money to make my car look silly.

I'd suggest you consider using a set of Recaro Pole Position seats. They are a simple bolt-in install, have provisions for all the belt holes (if you plan to run race harnesses) and are not as wide at the top as the GT3 seats.

Anyone actually installed these? It looks like they will sit too high on the factory seat mounts. I dont know about cutting out factory mount and welding new one. Any ideas?

Thanks,
jeff

GT3 Seat

I like the GT3 seats and installed them in mine. It is a direct fit with the right side mounts and sliders.
