weigh-in SC vs. SWB

weighed my '66 last weekend. came in at 2160 lbs with a full tank of gas.

weighed the SC today, full tank of gas came in at 2710 lbs!!

I knew it was heavier, but seriously! where do they hide it? seats, bumpers, sunroof, power windows, I guess it all adds up. but 550lbs is a lot. funny, makes me want to see how light I can go on the '66. figure the SC is too far away to even try. and, to be honest, it's a very comfortable car to drive as it is. now I'm walking around the '66 thinking, " do I really need this _____. it must weigh 5 lbs at least! ".

anyway, another fun SWB/SC back-to-back comparison. I'm sure I'll think of others. Don.

previous one driving impressions - SC vs. SWB

Don,

I have tried hard to shed weight in my 84 and got it too 2225 with a wee bit of fuel. Mind you it has huge brakes and a welded in roll bar..... It would take a lot more F/G than it already has to get deep into the 2100's............

Cheers

My 80 SC with a 3.2 came in at 2650lbs with a 1/2 tank of fuel.
Oops, forgot to mention no A/C and backdated heat.

SWB cars have a built-in weight reduction program whereby parts of the car turn to a brown powder and fall away. This tends to offset the addition of bondo and 959-type spoilers.
