Need 911SC ignition switch wiring diagram
I need to replace the ignition switch for my '80 SC and can't seem to find the wiring diagram that shows the pin out. I can't just replicate the order because I'm replacing due to a theft where some of the wires were found loose from the switch plate.
Thanks for any help... |

I think I have the correct diagram. I'll check and hopefully send the pin-out later today.

My diagrams skip from '78 to '81, but the IGN Switch hook up is the same so your 1980 setup is hopefully identical.
Here's the run down by terminal # (I assume/hope these are stamped on the switch) Terminal 30 3 Red wires - all 2.5 dia. Two go directly to Battery + The other goes to Headlamp Switch pin 30 Terminal X One Red/White (2.5) goes to Headlamp Switch pin 75 One Red/Black (2.5) goes to hot side of Fuse 14 (Mirrors) Terminal 15 One Red/Black (2.5) goes to a butt connector and splits two ways - one to the Tach, Oil Press Gauge and Oil Press Warning Lamp - the other leg goes to Fuse 12 (Rear Window Def) Terminal P One Gray (.5) goes to a connector and then to the Parking Lamp Switch (I believe this is the circuit that lets you leave one side or the other lit when parked) Terminal R One Yellow (1.0) Shown going to the Radio Terminal 50 (Start Position) One Yellow (2.5) - Splits three ways at various butt connectors: One leg to Fuel Pump Relay, one leg to Heater Blower Switch and the last to the Start Solenoid. I hope this helps. I can e-mail you a black and white version of the diagram but there's not much more info than what is shown above. PM me your address if you want it. Feel free to ask more questions - good luck. Ron

thanks Ron...
Thanks very much for your help. I have wires which seem to be a bit different. a 2.5 red/white stripe, red/yellow stripe, red/black stripe, solid red, purple, grey both at .5 and maybe there is a green wire.
Where you stipulate a colour is this referencing the stripe?? Wiring is otherwise unmolested and original. Then there is the mystery as to how he got the steering interlock to release. A friend and I spent an hour trying to replicate whatever the thief did to drive it away without success and I had to have it towed home. It's a bummer it was stolen and from the garage no less. Police think it was cased because of the way it was hot wired in a storage garage at night with no lights and with no damage to dash and seemingly no other damage...like whoever took it has some respect for it beyond a commodity item. Strange circumstances and especially for Omaha where this sort of thing is mostly unheard of. I didn't know it was missing until they called me to ask why it was sitting in an apartment complex parking lot with the windows down and ignition wires hanging. oh well. No blood no foul ![]() |

OK - digging a bit deeper:
You point out Red/white stripe (term X), red/black stripe (term 15), solid red (term 30) and gray (term P) and these are all mentioned in my post. The purple one threw me for a moment but now I see that there is a purple wire going from the Seat Belt warning system module to the "key warning buzzer contact" which is certainly part of the ign switch but I don't know the terminal number for this. As to the Red/Yellow wire, that was my mistake: I incorrectly called this one out. It goes from Terminal X to the hot side of Fuse 14 (mirrors) I mistakenly listed this wire as Red/Black but it is actually red/yellow. Ron
