Cams for 2.7 with RS P&Cs and Webers
My 77 sees 50% track, 50% street use.
I need to swap out my CIS cams - what cam is the best choice: Early S, E, Mod S cams? Others? The track here has a 1/2 mile straight strech. I would be buying new from Dohtery or elsewhere. Scott.

In my similar 2.7: with 40mm Webers, I have Webcam 104/102 which I am told is similar to the "S" profile cam. Heads are ported to 36mm intakes. Exhaust is stock ports with early stock h/exh. It comes on cam around 3700 and pulls all the way to 7200 easy, very smooth. It is a rocket. Everybody told me not to leave this cam in because I autocross a lot, said go to an "E" cam for low end, mid range, but I have taken 2 TTODs with this setup. Although I benefit from an earlier 901 transmission with shorter stock gearing 7:31 r/p from '71 trans. At the track, which I have only done some shorter track stuff, I like the setup as well at the track. Good top end. Pulls like crazy once on cam. Just my opinion.

Solex for stock valve springs and 7100 RPM limit. Mod S for race springs and 7200+ limit. Mod S will have slightly more power at high RPM.

Solex cams, Webers, & 10.5:1 Mahles. The motor previously had 9.7:1 Shastas and ran on pump gas.
After 30-40 minutes on a chassis dyno with the initial tune we did 3 pulls. Hard to see, but it's what I got. It's an autocross motor. .... ![]()
