CIS fuel distributor - does position matter?

The P.O. had the lines running to cylinders 1-2-3-4-5-6 running in a clockwise pattern looking at the F.D. from above. Obviously the longer lines go to the 1-2-3 side and the shorter ones to the 4-5-6 side. My question, can I make them go 1-2-3-6-5-4 instead? This will prevent lines from "crossing" over each other for the R/H bank and make the install look cleaner & simpler.

Since the thing is just continuously metering fuel to all the ports/lines, does it really matter which line goes to which location on the F.D.? Common sense tells me "no" but I just want to run it by the experts here.
