What is this tube at rear of car?
I didn't find anything with the search (maybe I'm not looking for correct name)
What are these 2 tubes (one on each side of rear) ... I'm guessing that they were for loading cars onto a cargo ship in the early days with a crane. ![]() Next question... if that is infact what they are for (when paired with the multiple steel loops in front trunk) I'm assuming that as long as they are not corroded, I should be able to use them to lift the rear of the car? tks, Evan

Tube is a fender support; it is NOT robust enough to use to lift the car. Nor is it strong enough to be used as a car tie down.

You'll want to replace them with some sort of support to the fiberglass. Otherwise the fiberglass will shudder in the wind and eventually crack. ( I could show you pics, but I try to delete all the bad ones.)

Looks like a very efficient tire-puncturing device.

Yup, it looks like it has been bent inward and upward.

Funny, I asked this same question 4 years ago. When i got my '71, it had an impact bumper on the back. That lasted a day.
