Am in the rather painful throws of fitting the Varioram system from a 3.6 993 into my 1990 964 C4.
Does anyone know if it is possible to use the full 993 system (airbox with the Bosch hot wire), Varioram intake manifolds and the 993 Motronics with the 993 wiring harness (all of which I have), or do I have to reprogram the 964 motronics? I realise the 964 3.6 and the 993 3.6 were different in a number of areas, but am wondering if I can use the 993 motronics temporarily until I can get someone to properly reprogram the 964 box specifically to handle the Varioram (very hard to do in Singapore as no one here reprograms). Any assistance is appreciated. http://members.rennlist.com/complete964 |

I think you HAVE to use the 993 motronic package which would include the brain, harness and MAF sensor.
I looked into the possibility of fitting the 993 MAF on my '93 964 engine but the pin assignments on the 55 pin DME connector are totally different on the 993(ie air temp may be pin #3 on one brain and pin #7 on the other), you will have to change the wiring harness although the connector is the same. Also the 993 DME looks for a speed signal from the ABS brain that the 964 doesn't require. I checked this out thinking about putting a 993 varioram engine in my car but it seemed too much to deal with. |

I found this post in a search, and this is exactly my plan, ........ to fit a 97 993 motor in my 964 that I bought without a motor, brain, or harness. I have just purchased this 993 motor and still must buy the brain & harness etc. It looks like the oil lines from the 964 must be used on the 993, which means the 993 heat exchangers may not fit. Is this a big problem? Should I return the motor & look for a 964, or are there any reasonable solutions? Thanks to those who have BTDT. Len Last edited by BoxsterGT; 06-01-2006 at 03:32 AM.. |
