Tiptronic on a 930

Hello All,
My friend wants to but a Tiptronic tranny in a 930. Will that work? And if so what years?
Thanks Rob

“Will that work?”
Part of the reason I own a 930 is for the manual transmission! Ok actually the biggest reason coupled with boost.
The manual raw driving experience is the biggest reward for owning a 930…. just my opinion

A Tip in a 930, this is just not going to work! Your friends, they own 99X cars I bet
Rob, take your friends on a “Drive it like you stole it” trip and see if they still think you need a Tip, I am assuming you own the 930?

I have no experience with a tiptronic, but I imagine the electronics involved would make it all but impossible.

The 2 words, 'tiptronic" and"930" do not belong in the same sentence....ever

930= raw, untamed, visceral, hardcore, etc., etc.

Tiptronic = none of the above

Unless your friend doesn't have full use of a limb, slap him back into reaity Tiptronic in a 930?? ...that is like castratin' the poor vehicle!

Sequential shift maybe = big bucks for the cost you could have a 99X car.

The 930 would not be the same any other way. I would not want an automatic trans in that car.

That appears to be an '03 996 Turbo w/ 4wd & Tip. Installing a Tip in a 930 Turbo would be a substantial undertaking with high risk of not achieving the desired intent. But if someone wants to launch an expensive development program for fun, I say go for it - and let us know how it turns out.
