May i resolve the problem in fast way for my marry?
 

Good morning,
i hope that a friend will help me.
I have a 68 T with marelli distributor and things goes wrong because my distributor car is bad.
I did check arond for a new cap and rotors, but i found only parts for bosch distributors.
Someone know if a bosch cap will fit on my marelli distributor? what bosch cap model?


I hope that's the best way for a fast repair because i would go to marry with my 911 on next may 14 .

Please help me with suggestions :)

No

You can replace entire distributor with a Bosch part. Then you may obtain spares.

Can somebody here provide the accurate part number? :confused:

most people replace the marelli with a bosch

OK, here you go, you need:

"Bosch dist Porsche part # 911.602.022.00

Centrifugal advance 0 to 30 degrees, replaces Marelli dist."

If you have used Porsche parts dealer there in Italy, that would be your best bet.

Probably rather expensive, just what you need with a wedding coming up so soon.

probably you mean: 901 602 022 00 that would be the distributor bosch body.

May i change my marelli with: rotor, cap, contact points ...and others with bosch parts?

I looked it up for you in an old Tweeks catalog I have in my archive here (vintage 1995) .

The part number in there for this distributor body is a 911. 602.022.00.

They also list 901.602.021.02 and a 901.602.201.50 as early 911 distributors. But they list yours as a 911 part#.

You will need a Bosch cap and rotor as well. You present plug wires will still work. :D:D

i just looked in the PET, and the 901.602.022.00 is the listed part number for your present Marelli distributor.

a pleasure for me show my work on car.

I have another problem also.
When car is cold seems that runs on 5 cilinder. After more minutes the engine(warm) back to run 6 cilinders.

i did check about compression, that's right, valvle clerance- right-, about spark cables-right-, spark plugs-right, -contact breaker-right-, coil -right.....


now i don't know where beat my head..:) :confused::confused:
maybe the distributor cap? It seems in good condition( but maybe have a problem inside??)

Maybe an US friend have suggestions for me ?

Yes all of your problems seem to sound like they are ignition/spark related. I would try and find 6 new spark plugs, new spark plug wires, coil, cap and rotor.

The best option is to install an electromotive device. You can buy them on this website. I have one on my 2.0 and its the best thing.

...spark plugs are new and wires also. i should check another distributor because mine is a -BAD- Marelli and new parts aren't on this earth.SmileWavy

If you still have a stock '68T kettering ignition you may be seeing this cold misfire due to the combination of a weak spark and a cold mixture of air and fuel that isn't vaporized.

You may be able to correct the misfire by replacing the conventional kettering ignition system with a Capacitive Discharge Ignition system from a '69E or S (or other early car CDI system if you wanted to keep the car "correct"). Another option is an aftermarket CDI system such as MSD or Crane.

if you're feeling industrious and lucky, there is cap manufactured by Mopar that will fit the Marelli and Bosch distributors.

that's what was on my 73 from the prior owner 29 years ago.

maybe someone with a NAPA (parts store) connection can reverse look-up a cross-reference for you.
mine was probably from one of the millions of slant sixes Chrysler (corp) made during the 70's.
