San Diego / North County Fun Run?
Anyone know if there is a fun run planned in the San Diego area before New Years?

New year's day sounds good to me... what route do you guys have in mind?
Doug W (DW_SD) and Jamie (luvandsun) may join us as well. Any others? |

Sure, I'll come if it's not TOO early... (And if you don't mind a lowly 914 tagging along.)

Cool! My wife's cousin and her husband are here visiting from Michigan. He and his dad do some Corvette racing back there. He is going to dig this. Does anyone have any preferences for a meeting place? I can work on putting a route together and I'll run it past everyone. I am thinking no more than two or three hours, coffee and gas included.

Stop it you guys!! I'm not there yet.....the more we look at housing prices, the more snese San Diego County makes.

Yeah, "lowly 914". Hardly - that thing looks sweet.
As far as routes, unless folks feel like a leisurely tour up/down the 101, it should probably be out East of the 15 somewhere - maybe up to Palomar and down the other side or something similar. Curvy roads with hopefully not much traffic is always good.

Palomar would be great. I've never been there.

I'm in! Palomar is a great run. Where shall we meet?
There is a park and ride at 5 and La Costa Ave on the East side of the highway? OR If we pull out the google map I remember there is a parking lot at 78 and 15. Is 8a too early?

Why would you go all the way up there when we have all of the San Diego back country to run in?

Hey guys.....my 02cents. I just did Palomar and 94 east recently. Palomar had a LOT of ice and debris and sand. I don't recommend it this time of year.
I ride a Ducati too and get a lot or road condition updates from the bike guys. Out to Borrego Springs or 94 out to Potrero is a good route....there is a good coffee/restaurant stop along the way. Let me know what you guys think and check out my thread for recent pics of my trip: SW euro chip first impressions.... Last edited by svb; 12-28-2007 at 09:41 AM.. |

Thanks for the heads up, svb. I saw a show on the Speed channel with some guys running sport bikes up on Palomar at the wrong time of year and there was a lot of snow, ice, run-off, and sand.
How about Pomerado Road off the 15 to Highland Valley Road to the 67 in Romona to the 78 (Julian Road) up into Julian and then the 79 through Cuyamaca? That will dump us back onto the 8 and we should avoid the mountains for the most part. It is really pretty country with winding roads. That is my vote.
