Westward Ho; the start of Ruby's (& Charlie's) excellent adventure

The mover's left last night and will arrive at he new place in SoCal on 5/2. The RaceDeck tile gets installed 5/1, and my garage furnishings all arrive 5/2, so it will all fall together.

So, today I loaded Ruby for the first time on the new trailer, and we headed out for Abilene at about noon. My wife is following me in her car with Charlie. We'll switch him off to me tomorrow, as she said he barked and whined the whole way looking at me in front of them.

So far, so good. We'll hit Van Horn, TX tomorrow, and then Tucson on Tuesday, getting us to Escondido on Weds afternoon.

Ruby on the trailer in front of the "old" house, my wife Debbie keeping her feet warm in the hot tub (57 degrees today) during our little "happy hour"and Charlie lounging by the pool in Abilene, and Ruby in her spot for the night.

Ed,

Hope the trip goes well. Wish I was at home in Phoenix, would have you guys stop by for some burned cow and adult beverages. Am out working so will catch you some other time!

Ed:

If your auto interests go beyon Porsche you may want to stop by the following shops in Escondido after settling in. Both are off Autoparkway/Vineyard.

Alan Taylor Co. Inc at 1120 Industrial Ave. They do high end restorations.

Hilltop Classics 1856 Commercial St.
They restore/maintain Ford products, primarily Mustangs and Thunderbirds. If you see a black '49 Ford convertible or a white '61 T-bird convertible there, its probably mine.

There's also a top-end Mercedes restorer (Jerry somebody) close by that specialized in Gullwing cars.

hmmmm.....Debbie's expression looks curiously familiar to my wife's expression whenever she "assists" me on Porsche-related tasks. It's a look that seems to say: "this had better be as simple as you say it will be, and I expect you to do something very nice for me for my trouble."

Seriously, though - best of luck on your move, Ed. You have (or had) a beautiful home in Texas (?) and I hope you'll be happy with your new place.

Cheers!

best of luck Ed with the move and trailering!!! ...
I think he was having withdrawals from the yacht club and ocean from earlier posts... Is there a boat in the future Ed?? If so, it better be powered by a 928s4 engine!!
Please post pics of the new place so we all can see for comparison how the new garage works out with new flooring,...
Bob

Good Luck - sad to see that the car doesn't get to make a triumphal entrance under its own power -- that would make a real nice trip.

Thanks Joe, we're bypassing PHX anyway, we'll turn left at I-8.

I think we have a good one...it's actually slightly larger than the Dallas house. Had to, in order to get the 3 car garage.

Actually, it's the other way around. She's getting her move back to SoCal.

We'll get another boat, probably a nice dinghy to do some boos cruises with. I've got friends with big boats still, I need to get over the pain of buying the new house.

The new digs, new garage pics coming next week:

sweet Ed!!! Fence and all...I say put the mid rise lift in the back, furthest most back of the garage so it won't impede the Mrs with her in ~ out of the garage. 2nd choice is in front of the water heater...
Nice house...thats got to be close to 5k sq' from the outside...how far a drive to the boos machines at the club?
Man I need to move to the west coast... this east coast "SH^T" weather... thats why they call it the tail pipe of the country cus' all the nice weather hits the west coast 1st, and by the time it reaches the east it is full of pollution and maybe we get 100 NON raining days/yr... half of those are cloudy too............uuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrggggggg
I am packin' a bag!!
Enjoy Ed... looks great
Bob

It was going to go into the back, but I figured it would get a little claustrophobic back there, so it is going in front of the water heater. I'll park my truck over it when not in use.

Well, I thought I'd have the most exotic "vehicle" in Van Horn, Texas tonight, at least at the pet friendly Ramada, but I surely was mistaken....you gotta love road trips, you see the best things.

Made it to Tucson this afternoon, tomorrow we'll get to our new home at 2:00 or 3:00.

Here's Charlie looking out the sunroof, supplementing the radar detector looking for cops on I-10:

And here's Charlie watching Ruby, making sure all is well. What a good dog!
