Switch dealers jack the price

This 930 was purchased by a screen name "*exoticars*" on eBay last week for 36k and change.

Now its listed under a new seller with a 49k buy it now. Wow do they add a lot of value!

His Buy-It-Now price is $49k. Doesn't mean the reserve is. Furthermore, the car will bring more $$$ in Miami (Coral Gables) than "Goat-Hump" PA. He is most likely hoping someone local will see it and drop in.

Or, more likely, the dealer is a parasitic, inflated-ego used car salesman who is trying to gouge the unsuspecting public. More power to him.

West Chester PA is just a few miles from the "Main Line" suburbs of Philly. Incidentally Villanova which is not more then 5 miles from West Chester has consistently ranked in the top 10 income per capita zip codes according to the WSJ.
I think we all realize that the "buy it now" offer is just an offer to sell at that price and no guarantee

Sorry, anything North of Palm Beach, FL is "goat-hump" to me...

High-school kids from Coral Gables drive Lambo's.

Nonetheless, I just e-mailed him for the reserve price. Will report back with response.

We have a place in Palm Beach Gardens north of Palm Beach proper and I would hardly call it goat hump. You might want to ask some people on a certain Island in NY if thats goat hump.

Oh yeah...Palm Beach Gardens (which is well inland...no "beach" to be found...)....was just a gang-shooting there last week.

There was a very nice, low mile 944 sold by Barret Jackson not too long ago for about $9000.

It's now listed on Ebay with a BIN of $20k

Auction link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250241014336&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123

Barret Jackson link: http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/search/carlist_Details.aspx?&In_LotNumber=106

Look really close at the stains on various metal parts. It's the same car.

Ebay seller flat out denied it.

I dont think there was a gang shooting in our neighborhood, Mirasol. I would also say there are maybe what 10 high school kids in the country who drive Lambo's as their car? You know what 10 is probably high. I am glad your view of the land is so skewed and I am sure that insulting all those north of Palm Beach in the country is both very brave and bright from behind your computer.

Wolfie, nice catch. Dont forget just because the gavel drops at B/J does not mean the car has a new owner.

Well, let's put it this way. I wouldn't drive through Palm Beach Gardens at night...Mirasol may be nice, but you still have to drive through the ghetto to get there.

Not insulting, just factual (Philly is a dream destination, right?). And I'm very brave, in front of, or behind my keyboard (except when it comes to driving through Palm Beach Gardens!).

I don't know - there are risks in transactions like that.

$37K for an 89 Turbo, that isn't cheap. Add in $1000 for transaction costs and shipping from Penn to Miami, puts them at $38K. Plus the daily cost of the financing the dealer pays, plus other costs getting it ready to sell.

It's already gone through an eBay auction, where the market price was set at $37K, at least for that week. The $49K asking is of course a pipe dream. A used car dealer is doing well if they get 10-15% on a car. If they get $42K, that'd be roughly 10%.

Go west on PGA from 95 and see how bad it is LOL. I have lived in Philly, Manhattan, Chicago and LA. All were nice livable cities assuming you can afford to live in the better sections. There are crappy areas of all towns. I live outside Philly since I am sure you have never been there you'll know what a ghetto it is.

rvan, I don't have a problem with it, just find the blatancy funny. It happens all the time. Look at all the cars Victory buys off of eBay under one name and sells under another. These guys who did the name flip oin this 930 buy / sell are not the first nor will they be the last.

The seller may have a market for that car at an asking price of 49K. It is irrelevant what he paid -- as long as the buyer and seller are content, it shouldn't matter if the seller made $500 or $10000. Many dealers consider Ebay more a form of advertising than a means of directly selling a vehicle. And you certainly can't consider Ebay an accurate guage of what a vehicle is truly worth -- it only tells you what that vehicle is worth to the bidders of that particular auction on that particular week.

I dont have a problem with them making a buck, I was just pointing it out. I asked the dealer via eBay if it was the same car and he ducked the question.

"Hi i just got the car 10 days ago,the only answer than i can tell you is that the car is perfect, if you need more tecnical or conditional info about this vehicle you can call me 786 301-xxxx jimmy"

I lived in Jupiter in the early 80's and Palm Beach Gardens wasn't a nice 'burb back then.
Of course, south of Palm Beach is the beautiful 'burb of Lantana, so I guess there's goats livin' there too (along with the rednecks).....

Wow, $37k for a 1989 G50 Turbo w/ 42,000 miles was IMO a good buy.
