Upper steering u-joint access

I'm trying to take some angle out of my steering u-joints. How/where do you access the upper one? I want to make sure it's not under the cover that runs from the smugglers box towards the firewall before I try and get that cover removed (no small feat it appears). Is it actually under the dash, closer to the column? Or do I need to actually remove that cover?

I've got some steering binding, well I did once, and now I'm affraid to drive the car until I figure out what's going on.

Cheers,
Todd

Check the rubber mount in the smugglers box, there is a needle bearing in the rubber that goes bad and can cause the joints to get out of alignment and bind in certain spots.

You get at it from in the trunk, it is up pretty close to the dash and will probably require removing some of the HVAC plumbing...

Cheers
